I feel like I should start off really simple by saying Hi! My name is Katie. I'm 26 and I am Rotherham based photographer. To keep myself on my toes I currently have three jobs and obviously I have being a photographer on top of those jobs (don't tell my bosses but being a photographer is my favourite)
I always find writing something about myself or talking about myself quite difficult as I either don't know what to say because I don't think that I am that interesting or I will massively overshare... I have found that there is no in between.
I love a good concert, spending time with the people that I love and I tend to pick up random hobbies. I am obsessed with JLS, at this point in time I can't even remember how many times I have seen them, I think it may be either 8 or 9. As mentioned below I would weirdly credit them as being part of my photography journey.
My Photography Journey
I would like to say that my experience with photography began when was I was given a digital camera for Christmas, I think I was possibly 9 or 10 at the time. Let me tell you I absolutely loved that little camera, it was bright pink! This camera went everywhere with me, it went on holidays with me and it even came to every JLS concert I attended ( which is a LOT) I think I still have that camera somewhere at home. Having this camera lead me to doing photography at school, college and even at university.
Attending university was never something I imagined myself doing as I have always thought that I'm not that great academic wise. But I decided to take that plunge and I can now say that I have earned myself a degree in a topic that I love.
I would say that during my time at both school and college I never really knew what I wanted to do when it came to photography. I didn't even know what genre of photography that I liked the best however I was always open to trying new things and this is still the case.
Even though I was unsure for a very long time if you asked me at the beginning of my photography journey what I liked to photograph the best, I still would have said landscapes this is simply because I thought they were easy to photograph because they didn't move. However if you were to ask me this question now then my answer would be different, I now prefer photographing people, mainly at weddings but I have done other events too. I love being able to capture the special moments during the special day. Even being a wedding photographer came to me by chance, as I was actually photographing a football game when I was asked if I did weddings, at the time I hadn't done a wedding but I said yes. I will be forever grateful to the first couple who took a chance on me. As well as other couples who will eventually trust me with their special day.
